Are you an Identity Orphan?
When you don't want to be yourself and don't know who to become

If you don't like who you are and don't know who you want to be, you are an Identity Orphan.
When you go to the gym, you get a pump. It gives you motivation and a glimpse into the future; if you keep working hard, that's how you could look. Think of your higher self as your life pump. Similarly, your higher self whispers to your ear who you can become if you work hard enough on yourself.
It quiets down when you ignore it long enough while your lower self—the equivalent of your monkey mind—gets louder. Once your lower self takes over, you lead by fulfilling your desires and pleasures and live in a YOLO state of mind—which makes you indulge more in self-destructive behaviours like drugs, distractions, and staying in your comfort zone.
Note: Comfort zone only means what you are used to, regardless of how good or bad the situation is. We get stuck in it because we are more afraid of the uncertainty, even if that uncertainty could lead to an improvement in our current situation.
After your lower self loses custody of you, your higher self still hasn't shown up.
You are an orphan.
You aren’t sure if anyone else will show up, but you know that your lower self isn't the one. Letting go yourself—no matter how harmful—is not easy. You are telling yourself that there must be something better out there, that this can't be all there is to life. You start to hear the whispers of your higher self again—the voice of reason, your potential. It's not telling you what you must do yet; it's telling you what you do not want.
The will inside you wants you to leave your lower self behind. This is a manifestation of your higher self. You can't expect it to speak loudly when you've ignored it for years. Still, you are on the right path; do not give up.
I was lost for so many years, giving in to all my pleasures without thinking about the future. That's how mediocrity first gets you. When you can't imagine a future, all you have is the present. You want to "enjoy" each day fully and feel good. However, chances are these "good feelings" come from drugs (be they substances, behaviours, or technology).
I didn't know any better. I didn't know how to start improving my life, nor did I think about it until I found a video of Jordan Peterson from 2021 on the Joe Rogan Show.
"You can do better, you can be better. Do not stay where you are if you are not happy; expect more from yourself."
Then, I worked a job I hated in the mornings just to numb myself by smoking weed every night. I had never heard anybody speak like Jordan did about men.
He gave me hope.
It sparked something in me, and I started seeing my environment differently. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. My higher self found a crack inside me where it placed the feeling that this couldn't be it. So, I leaned into it, and without knowing what I wanted to do next, I trusted that my path was not one I wanted to remain on.
The benefit of aligning with your higher self is profound. Once you start this journey, incentives align correctly; not only do you do good, but you also feel good. You begin to crave self-improvement and education, trusting in the recovery and growth of your soul.
Over time, the voice of your higher self grows louder, leading to a life where you are not just surviving but thriving. The clarity that comes with this alignment allows you to understand intuitively what actions are right for your soul's well-being. By doing the right thing and heeding the call of your higher self, you can reclaim custody of your life, leading to a more fulfilled and purposeful existence.
If there's anything in your life you sense is wrong, do not do it. The 'why' will come after. Do not deteriorate your soul; it might never recover.
Do the right thing, and your higher self will find you and take custody of you.
